Jeremiah Grossman is widely considered to be one of the world's most talented ethical hackers, but even his ninja-like prowess wasn't enough to recover a forgotten password used to encrypt sensitive work documents contained on his MacBook Pro.
Jack the RipperRevengeance's sword-based, two-button combat is powered by Platinum Games' trademark stylish action. Basic light and heavy slashing blade attacks slice enemies when you tap the respective buttons, but truly amazing combos emerge when you vary the inputs. Three light attacks in a row, for example, produce very different results than three heavy attacks. Mixing the attack strengths together, and even pausing between button inputs, produce additional moves that transform Raiden into a cybernetic Ginsu knife. Raiden not only does slashing damage, he does hacking damage, too, which is heart of the game.
\"Blade Mode,\" Revengeance's defining combat trait, is basically Bullet time with a blade (you activate Blade Mode by holding the L2 button). Blade Mode moves the camera close to the target and lets you lets you make hyper-precise cuts that lop off entire limbs. According to Platinum Games the physics were a challenge to program, but the results are impressive. For example, a diagonal Blade Mode slice through and enemy's torso causes the upper section to \"slide\" off in the appropriate direction. In fact, the computer A.I. is programmed to \"realistically\" react to damage. Remove a foe's legs and he may crawl after you or, if he still packs a firearm, shoot. It's incredibly fun to dissect the game's many technology-enhanced mooks, but shredding a Metal Gear's outer armor while hundreds of feet in the air is one of the most thrilling and satisfying moments in action gaming. The carnage left in your wake is both impressive and hilarious.
The action direction is superb. Raiden fights on top of building, trains, and in other interesting settings, but the camera placement and incredulous moments elevates Revengeance from a very good action game to an excellent action game. I'm not the biggest Quick Time Event supporter, but when you parry a Metal Gear's attack with your sword, toss it into the air, and then hack it to pieces (all to the sounds of rising guitars), you can't help but to smile. It's unfortunate that some of these sequences reduce player control, such as a magnificent missile hopping sequence that demands you simply hold down the Ninja Run button. I would've much preferred to execute the missile-leaping myself.
The game is a brawler for Xbox Live and PlayStation online. A demo was released that showcased some of the distinctive features of the game. Each turtle possesses a different combat style based on their personality and weapons, modified for hack and slash gameplay. Their base similarities include a parkour traversal system, triggered by using the jump and sprint buttons in tandem, a Batman: Arkham Asylum style counter/block system, light and heavy attack buttons, 10 throwable shuriken and last but not least, the ability to taunt enemies using the D-pad key used to select them.
Each special ability can be equipped and unequipped using the second left trigger/bumper. However these special abilities are accessed through a utility feature which also holds each Turtles throwing stars, energy drinks which can be consumed to max out their special attack bar, explosive and EMP grenades (which only effect robotic enemies such as Mousers) and most importantly, up to five pizza \"Health Packs\" which the player must consume to refill a dangerously low health bar or wave in front of a downed Turtle so they can recover. Leo also gains an upgrade ability which allows him to revive his brothers even if he does not have a health pack himself but the recovering Turtle gains very little health from this. All these items can be collected in a level along with concept art though some are hidden behind security doors which can be opened through a hacking mini-game. The player must connect symbols of ninja weapons, without cutting off another symbol's path, before a timer runs out. Naturally Donnie can be upgraded where the game is either insanely simple for him or the simpler locks are auto-hacked.
Technically speaking, the culprit of this glitch is the save pick-up that is just in the proximity of the mansion's basketball court. Basketballs that trigger the mini-game have a scripted zone that activates and spawns a basketball when CJ walks into the radius of this zone. Usually, this script will deactivate as soon as CJ walks out of the zone; however, if the game is saved while this script is active, and then loads that save, the script remains indefinitely activated, preventing the basketball from spawning again unless the player starts a fresh new game. A video explanation can be found here.
If the player loads a game save and exits the safe house (if the game was saved in a safe house) or waits for the game screen to display if saved at a save point, the game may rarely fail to load the texture of San Andreas and will become stuck soon after exiting. This only happens in PC version.
When the player loads a save file and plays about 1-2 minutes after load the save file, an LSPD officer usually appears walking on the street, this even happens if the player had saved the game in rural areas, San Fierro, or Las Venturas. This happens much more in the mobile version due to an unexplained error, where an LSPD officer spawns at the player's current location when the game is played for some time.
If the player has a parachute but doesn't deploy it yet or is still doing the opening parachute animation when CJ hits the ground, the health bar will deplete instantly and CJ will be killed. Cheats, hacks, mods or trainers couldn't prevent it from happening. This is probably because the game consider the player are still 'falling' when the opening parachute animation is triggered thus making this glitch.
