During the late 1980s-early 1990s, national chains of drug store chains, including CVS, Phar-Mor, Am-Trol, Rite-Aid, etc.,(many of which are still owned by the national chain) were selling bottles of Mountain Dew, Tab, and other soft drinks that were labeled Original Mountain Dew Bottler's Club.
Some of these bottles were clearly marked on the front of the bottle as "Original Mountain Dew Bottler's Club," but in many cases the wording was so obscure as to make it virtually impossible to determine exactly what the phrase meant. An obvious solution would have been to simply fix the phrase "Original Mountain Dew Bottler's Club" on the can and use the automatic serial number system to verify that the bottle was truly an original, hand-held can that had never been refilled or re-labeled.
Instead of this, the bottling plant owners went to an even more expensive and cumbersome solution. They simply set a two-character imprint and an automatic serial number on the can, as it leaving the canning plant (for example, on the machine that labeled the can). But before that can was sold as a store-branded, "Original Mountain Dew" product, it was sold to a manufacturer, who filled it with soda and then labeled it "Original Mountain Dew," and sold it to a vendor (a store) that sold it as "Original Mountain Dew."
And the purpose of these numbers were to prevent the store from re-selling the sodas as "Original Mountain Dew" after the bottler of the can had learned that the can did not originate from the bottler that set positive codes on the cans.
In order to test whether these bottles were original, the stores simply used a code generator to set negative serial numbers on the can, and were then able to use form letters to communicate the serial numbers to the bottlers.
To promote the album, Beyonc released two songs, "Run the World (Girls)", which was released as the lead single on April 21, 2011,[78] and "Best Thing I Never Had", released on June 1, 2011.[81] Promotional clips were released in the months leading to the album's release. Several were interactive; they were intended to raise awareness of conditions such as lupus and asthma as well as encourage female students not to miss school, due to Beyonce's decision to keep appointments for the first child with her husband in India. d2c66b5586
