Edward found that the Assassins' headquarters had been blown up, and the Assassins were nowhere to be found. Edward found the Assassins' new leader, Belmont, who had taken over the Assassins' headquarters.

Edward set sail to get the Spanish army and sailed to Cuba. Edward then sailed to Naples and met with the Assassins. Edward told them about a mysterious weapon and allowed them to use it on the English army. The Assassin's killed the army. Edward returned to England and tried to find the Assassins' headquarters.

Edward then went to New York to search for the Frenchman Aramis. He kidnapped the Sage and took him back to London. Edward learned that Aramis was in the Elysium Club, and bribed the head bouncer to get in. There, he met up with Aramis and learned of the creation of a smallpox-carrying pistol. Edward then met with the assassins again, to learn their plans to overthrow the throne. Edward then met up with the Templars and recruited them to the Assassins' cause. Edward then set sail for New York, and killed the head bouncer at the Elysium. He captured Aramis and took him to Belmont to be killed. He then tried to flee with Aramis, but was captured by the Templars. Edward was forced to kill Aramis, but also came into possession of a letter from the Assassins to Belmont.

Edward returned to England and looked into the assassination of the Duke of Milan. He met with the Assassins' agent Acheson and learned of a secret project to create a weapon that would turn itself on its creators, which was a plot of the duke's family. Edward was given another letter, telling him to go to Italy and find the project. Edward sailed to Rome, captured the project's inventor, and was sent back to London to kill the duke. Edward succeeded in killing the duke and killed the project's inventor.
